Criteria for work placement

In order to become eligible for a placement year, the criteria below will need to be met.  As long as you meet the first year criteria, you can start to look for a  placement in your second year of study. You will have to ensure that you pass all your exams in your second year.

- The candidate must normally attain an overall average of 58% or higher in Year 1 of the programme; and

- The candidate must pass a total of at least 80 credits of first year course units at 40% or higher and reach the lowest compensatable mark (30%) in all remaining course units (a maximum of 40 credits); and

- The candidate must achieve an individual mark of 50% or higher at the first attempt in the following first year courses:  BMAN10501 Financial Reporting BMAN10522(M) Financial Decision Making, BMAN10512 Introductory Management Accounting, and BMAN10760 Auditing & Professional Accounting Practice 1.

In exceptional cases, students requiring reassessment in two course units at level 1 may be considered for the internship year.  In such cases resits results (capped at 30%) will be taken into account for the purpose of calculating the overall average mark.

Failure to satisfy the examiners in these requirements will result in the student being transferred to the programme of the same title without industrial experience, and being assessed according to the normal rules for that programme.
