Course Unit Selection - Open Now!

Course unit enrolment is now open - so please read the following email carefully before making your selections. If you need help you can contact

Please be aware that if you have re-sit or first-sit exams then you will not be able to choose courses or change areas of specialism until you have passed these exams in August.

Course Enrolment + Deadlines

18th July 2018 - Course enrolment opens

5th October 2018 – Course enrolment closes

5th October 2018 – Deadline for changing your programme specialism

8th February 2019 – Course enrolment closes for changing semester 2 only courses

You should use the course enrolment guide for instructions on how to add your courses on the student system. When you log on you should see that you have been automatically enrolled onto your core courses, if applicable. You may notice that for any core courses you have been registered to SEM0 or WSP0, this is just a holding seminar which then allows you to ‘swap’ into a timetabled class of your choosing. To swap into a real timetabled class, follow section 5 in the course enrolment guide. We recommend that you enrol onto any accompanying seminar/workshop/tutorial groups for core courses first.

Very few AMBS courses have a cap, but seminars and workshops do so if you want to avoid certain time slots then I’d advise you to enrol early as some will fill up quickly. Remember that everyone will be adding, swapping and dropping courses until the deadline in October, so numbers in classes will fluctuate. If you experience any timetable issues, clashes or other difficulties, please contact us for help.

Prior to enrolment

You will need to consult the following documents before selecting your courses:

Programme structures + fact sheets

Lecture timetables

Seminar timetables (bottom of the page)

Course unit information can be found via MyManchester in the ‘My Courses’ tab.

You should always aim to take an even split of 60 credits in each semester, however, if you wish to pursue an uneven 70/50 or 50/70 split, you need to request permission in writing from your Programme Director.

Transferring to another specialism (if applicable)

If you have no re-sits and you take/have taken the required courses in your second year you may be able to swap to another specialism if these are available on your programme, you can refer to the specialism guidelines on the Online UG Handbook.

The deadline for transferring between programmes is 5th October, after which you must remain on your registered programme. If you would like to transfer please email but bear in mind we may receive a large number of requests so this may take some time.
